Mission Project

In my distress I called upon the LORD. Psalm 18:6

We are Pilgrims on a Journey
We are Brothers on the Road
We are here to HELP each other
Walk the Mile and bear the Load  -  Gillard

WHEN YOU DO LITTLE THINGS FOR OTHERS,
YOU DO BIG THINGS FOR JESUS!

For the next two years (from June 2009) we are to support the following three organisations:

HESHIMA - www.heshima.org.uk
Originally set up to
help children in the town of Kisumu in Kenya, this organisation has now moved to Tanzania after the wrecking of their original site in Kenya.
They give advice, support and information to new parents to plan for their future. It provides a play and activity centre where children can have fun whilst learning new skills, and also promote their culture in Drama, dance and music.
NONE of the donations are used for administration.
Special Note: This project was set up and run by Alison and Steve to help the children of Kisumu. Unfortunately, during the riots of Dec. 2007, Heshima was destroyed and Alison, Steve and their three children, realising that their lives were in danger, returned to Britain. It was in Feb. 2008 that they visited us here in Spain and related their experiences complete with photos.
All the leasure activity areas and equipment had been burnt or looted, but not just material things were lost. Employees lost their income and independence, and the local nursery that looks after 86 orphans was distraught. Alison and Steve's lives were effected, and people who had been friends and workmates turned against them as Steve was of the Kikuya tribe.
On 1st Aug. 2008 Alison, Steve and the children returned to Kenya. Kisumu is still a town suffering the terrible aftermath of violence. People still do not trust one another. What little is left of heshima, people are still stealing. After a meeting with the District Police Officer, they were advised not to rebuild Heshima at present - a little frustrating to say the least, but they realise that God must want them to do things differently!
Alison was offered a job in Tanzania and so the family moved to Arusha where she is teaching in a school with a Christian Head' who introduced the family to a lovely Church. In Tanzania they have found needs similar to Kenya. Many of the children have no toys, books or playgrounds. They have started to wonder if they should start a branch of Heshima there and have begun to look into registration rules.
Please pray that if this is God's will, all will be approved and then they can look for suitable land. Also, please remember Kenya in your prayers - here is so much hurt, pain and suffering there. We continue to support this project.

USPG - DIOCESE IN PERU - this is an Anglican based mission project. PeruTheir outreach work includes soup kitchens, medical campaigns and prison ministry. The Diocese projects include teaching women to raise ducks and grow vegetables so that the family diet will be much  improved, making shoes to provide footwear for family and friends, and Hydroponics (growing plants in water), therefore making the most of small areas, and an economical way of using water.           See www.uspg.org.uk

Thirdly, the local Orphanage in Vera - details to follow.

If God is prompting you today
To help someone who has a need,
                         Don't hesitate, the time is short;
                            Tomorrow is not guaranteed!

               WHERE THERE'S HOPE, THERE'S HAPPINESS!
The weak and the helpless are in the Good Shepherd's special
care, but we can all give Him a helping hand!
Doing what's right today means no regrets tomorrow!

When you have given some thought to the plight of the people being helpedBegging hands by the three organisations of our MISSION PROJECT, please decide how you could help them. Some of us collect our small change that becomes too heavy in our pockets to be bothered with. Put it in our own collection box that is outside the church at every Service. If you are too far away to visit perhaps you might like to
send your donation to us at "The Anglican Chaplaincy, P O Box 617, Mojacar, Almeria 04638, Spain".
We will ensure that all donations are shared equally betwen the three organisations, or any one of them if so specified. THANK YOU ..............

We also save used postage stamps - any type - any country. These are passed on to the "The Oxford Association for the BLIND" who sort and sell them on. You may post them please to the above address, c/o J H Salmons, or deposit them in the collecting box in church.
Please don't throw them away - put them to good use.
